Dominique Yon is a visual artist and proud middle school art teacher whose practice explores the intersection of education and artistic creation. With a BFA in Art Education and a concentration in Painting, her work is ignited by the symbolic nature of Surrealism, using dreamlike imagery to challenge perception and concepts of reality. Working primarily in oil paint, they also experiment with collage, sculpture and wood shaping techniques.

Dominique’s dual roles as an educator and artist informs her practice, encouraging young hearts to reflect on their identity and experiences as valuable means of expression is mirrored in her personal artwork which explores those same themes and intentions. Through both her teaching and personal work, her aim is to cultivate a safe, thought-provoking atmosphere where meaningful and diverse arts education is more accessible to all ages within local communities.
